Tesla Model Y & Model 3 Accessories by Generation

Why Legacy, Highland, and Juniper parts are not interchangeable, and how to shop mats, protectors, and organizers for the right refresh.

Generation is the fitment key, not just the model name

Tesla has updated the Model 3 and Model Y enough times that "Model Y" or "Model 3" alone is not a useful fitment description anymore. The Model 3 Highland refresh (2024+) and the Model Y Juniper refresh (2025+) changed dash shapes, center console designs, and in some cases the screen size and mounting position compared to the earlier Legacy cars. Floor mats, organizers, and screen protectors designed for a Legacy interior generally do not fit a refreshed one, and vice versa. We treat Legacy and refresh interiors as separate fitment groups for exactly this reason — the years matter as much as the model name.

Accessories that commonly differ between generations

  • Floor mats and frunk / trunk organizers — these follow the exact floorpan and storage cutout shapes, which changed with each refresh.
  • Screen protectors and camera covers — sized to the specific center display and any redesigned instrument cluster or rear screen.
  • Interior trim and console accessories — wireless charging pads, cupholder inserts, and console organizers follow the redesigned dash and console shape closely.
  • Charge port accessories — generally more universal across generations, but always worth a quick check if your charge port location or door design changed.

Shopping mindset for a Tesla

Prefer listings that explicitly name Highland or Legacy for the Model 3, and Juniper or Legacy for the Model Y, rather than a generic "Fits Model Y" claim with no year range attached. A listing photo showing the wrong dash shape or console layout is an immediate red flag, even if the title matches your model. Tesla's own accessory pages, and most established aftermarket brands, will call out the exact years and refresh name a product supports — if a listing will not commit to that, assume it is a universal-fit compromise rather than a true match.

Battery and drivetrain notes

Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance trims share the same interior floorpan within a given generation, so drivetrain variant does not usually change mat or organizer fitment the way it can on gas vehicles with different transmissions or transfer cases. The generation and refresh year are what actually drive fitment for Tesla interior accessories — that is the detail to get right before you order.

Next step

Pick your exact Model 3 or Model Y year in fitment search so you land on the correct generation hub — for example, Model Y (2023, Legacy) or a newer Juniper-year page once it publishes. Confirm the generation name in the listing matches your hub before checkout.
