5th Gen vs 6th Gen is a hard split
The 6th Gen Honda CR-V (2023–present) redesigned cabin and cargo shapes versus 5th Gen (2017–2022). Floor mats, second-row pieces, and cargo liners are not safe cross-buys unless a merchant explicitly cross-lists both generations with separate SKUs or a verified dual application chart. Treat "fits CR-V" without years the same way you would treat an unverified universal mat — incomplete. Start from 6th Gen or 5th Gen hubs so comparisons already sit on the right side of the redesign.
What to look for in cabin mats
All-weather liners with clear pedal relief and factory-style retention are the default for family CR-Vs that see sports gear, pets, and wet groceries. Cargo liners that actually seal the load floor
A good cargo liner follows the wheel-well contours, clears the liftgate weatherstrip, and does not block underfloor storage or the rear seat-back release. Soft, flat "universal cargo" sheets rarely seal corners the way a laser-measured CR-V liner does. If you fold the rear seats often, confirm the liner can be removed or folded without fighting seat latches. Tall sidewalls help when coolers and wet bags ride upright against the quarter panels.

Keep a cheap hose-off routine: pull the mats, rinse, dry, reinstall on the retention posts — that habit extends carpet life more than upgrading to a premium brand after stains are already set.
